I've used numerous hosting providers since 1997, and have with Bluehost since 2005. I've never had any significant issues. On the rare occasions I called tech support, I was able to talk to a live person quickly, and that person was able to take any necessary action. Bluehost seems to have some extra features good for beginners (like SimpleScripts and other cPanel extras), plus features for advanced users (autoresponders, Ruby on Rails, generous MySQL limits).
